Privacy Policy

ToolPlank (toolplank.com) is operated by Waqas Ahmed, an individual based in Pakistan. In this policy, 'we', 'us' and 'our' mean ToolPlank and its operator. You can reach us at [email protected].

Our tools run in your web browser. When you type, paste, drop or upload text, a script that is already loaded on the page processes it on your own device. We don't receive that text, we don't store it and we can't read it.

• Files you pick with the Upload button are read by your browser. They are not uploaded.
• When you use a Swap button, the result is held briefly in your browser's memory so the next tool can show it. It is discarded as soon as it is used, or after about a minute, and it is never written to our servers.
• We don't keep a history of what you convert.

Like almost every website, ToolPlank is served from a hosting provider, and each visit leaves some technical traces.

• Hosting and security logs: our hosting and network provider, Cloudflare, processes requests to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. This typically includes your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the referring page and the date and time. We use it only to run and secure the site. Cloudflare's handling of data is described in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
• Aggregated search data: we use Google Search Console to see which searches lead people to the site. This is aggregated data and does not identify individual visitors.
• Analytics: we don't currently run an analytics service on the site. If we add one, we will update this policy first and describe what it collects.

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Local storage is a similar space for small settings. Here is what ToolPlank uses:

• Theme preference: if you pick Light or Dark with the theme switch, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the name toolplank-theme, so the site looks the same on your next visit. Choosing System removes it. It contains no personal information and is never sent to us.
• Advertising cookies: if ads are shown, Google and its partners may set cookies or use similar technologies, as described in the next section.
• Apart from advertising, we don't use cookies to track visitors.

You can block or delete cookies and local storage at any time in your browser settings. The tools keep working, although the site will forget your theme choice.

ToolPlank is meant to be supported by advertising, and we may use Google AdSense to display ads. Whether ads appear on a page can change over time, and they may not appear at all.

Before we show personalized ads to visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we will ask for consent with a consent banner, and you will be able to change your choice at any time.

• To run, secure and fix the site.
• To understand which tools are useful, using aggregated data only.
• To show advertising that helps pay for the site.
• To answer the messages you send us.
• To meet legal obligations.

We don't sell your personal information, and we never use the text you enter into our tools for any purpose.

If you email or message us through email, WhatsApp, LinkedIn or GitHub, we receive whatever you choose to send, such as your name, contact details and your message. We use it only to reply and to improve the site, and we keep it for as long as that takes. Those platforms handle your messages under their own privacy policies.

We don't sell your information. Limited information is handled by:

• Our hosting and network provider (Cloudflare), so the site can be delivered and protected.
• Advertising partners (Google AdSense and its partners), if ads are shown.
• Authorities, if the law requires it or if it is needed to protect rights and safety.

• Tool input: not stored at all.
• Server logs: kept by our hosting provider according to its own schedule.
• Messages you send us: kept only as long as needed to deal with your request.
• Theme preference: stays in your browser until you clear your browser storage.

Depending on where you live, laws such as the EU and UK GDPR and certain US state privacy laws give you rights over your personal information. These can include the right to:

• ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy;
• ask us to correct or delete it;
• object to or restrict certain uses of it;
• withdraw consent you gave earlier, at any time.

To use any of these rights, email [email protected] with the subject 'Privacy request'. Because there are no accounts and we don't store tool input, we may hold little or no personal information about you, but we will check and answer. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Some US state laws treat advertising cookies as a 'sale' or 'sharing' of personal information. We don't sell personal information for money, but if you live in one of those states you can opt out of personalized ads with Google Ads Settings or your browser's privacy controls.

ToolPlank is a general audience site and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

The site is delivered over HTTPS. Because your tool input stays on your device and doesn't travel to our servers, it can't be intercepted on its way to us or leak from our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't promise absolute security.

Cloudflare and Google operate worldwide, so information such as your IP address may be processed in countries other than your own. Those providers describe the safeguards they use in their own policies.

Our pages may link to other websites. We aren't responsible for their content or privacy practices, so read their policies before you share anything with them.

If we change how ToolPlank handles information, we will update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes, such as adding an analytics service, we will update the policy before the change takes effect.
